Let's Lift the Curfew with This Woman Runs
This October, This Woman Runs communities across the country will be joining This Girl Can’s Let’s Lift the Curfew campaign, coming together for special walks and runs on Wednesday 28 October.
Let’s Lift the Curfew shines a light on the impact that women’s safety concerns can have on their ability to be active outdoors, particularly in winter months.
The timing matters. Our events will take place in the week the clocks go back, when suddenly the evenings are darker and many women start changing where, when or whether they go out to walk, run or be active.
At This Woman Runs, we believe every woman should feel able to be active in her local area with confidence. Week in, week out, our communities create welcoming, supportive spaces where women can walk and run together, without worrying about pace, performance or having to go out alone.
On Wednesday 28 October, we’ll make our community even more visible!
Women across our participating communities will head out together wearing head torches, high-visibility clothing, carrying glow sticks, lights and their brightest running gear, creating a powerful show of solidarity and a reminder that women should be able to enjoy public spaces and be active safely, whatever the time of day.

Why This Matters
72% of women in the UK change how or when they get active outdoors during winter.
Almost a quarter avoid certain areas after dark, and one in five regularly look behind them to check they’re not being followed.
These aren’t small adjustments. They affect women’s freedom and confidence to be active in their own communities.
This is why creating safe, welcoming spaces for women to be active together underpins so much of what we do at This Woman Runs. Our communities help women keep moving with confidence, connection and support, whatever the season.
